Age Requirement

You must be 18 years of age in order to become a naturalized U.S. Citizen. Children under the age of 18 years old only become U.S. citizens under provisions that allow parents who are U.S. citizens were who themselves are applying for naturalization to apply for a certificate of citizenship on behalf of their minor children. Under changes in the current Citizenship laws, citizenship is automatically vested in children under the age of 18 provided the child is a green card holder and resides with the a parent who is a U.S. Citizen or Naturalizes to that of a U.S. Citizen.
