Oath of Allegiance and Certificate of Naturalization
At the conclusion of the interview, if the interviewing examiner is satisfied with all the documentation presented, the permanent resident applicant has satisfactorily passed the civics and history test, and has satisfactorily established that he or she is a person of good moral character, a date is then scheduled with the applicant to appear for the oath ceremony, where the applicant along with many others will recite the oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States and will finally be sworn in as a United States citizen. At the oath ceremony the applicant will receive a Certificate of Naturalization, which is physical proof of his or her citizenship status. The applicant is then eligible to vote in any United States election, obtain federal jobs, and apply for and obtain a United States passport.
