Who is subject to removal?
Illegal aliens:
Illegal aliens are all persons in the United States without authorization.
Inadmissible and deportable persons who fit into one of the following groups:

- People with communicable diseases;
- People with physical/mental disorder that can be or has been harmful to others;
- People with drug addiction;
- People likely to become a public charge;
- People likely to become tax evaders;
- People who have committed crimes such as offenses involving crimes of moral turpitude, drug offenses, aggravated felons;
- Violators of INS laws, such as:
· People seeking admission before bar to their admission has expired;
· People who are illegally present;
· People who entered without inspection;
· People who failed to appear at removal proceedings;
· Stowaways;
· Alien smugglers;

- People who are National Security risks (e.g., espionage, sabotage, terrorism);
- People who are deportable for foreign policy grounds(e.g. communists, American property confiscators).
Note: the above is not a full list. There are other additional reasons why one could be deported. There is also a legal distinction between people who are in the United States who are getting deported and those who are entering the United States. The distinction is beyond the scope of this article.
