Washington State Tax Defier Indicted in Spokane for Filing False Liens Against Government Officials

WASHINGTON - A federal grand jury in Spokane, Wash., has returned an indictment charging Ronald James Davenport of Deer Park, Wash., with filing fraudulent multi-billion-dollar liens against four government officials, the Justice Department and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced today. According to court filings, the federal government brought a civil suit against Davenport in 2008 to collect delinquent income taxes. The indictment alleges that in retaliation for attempting to collect the delinquent taxes, Davenport made a series of fraudulent claims in December 2009 against, among others, the U.S.

Milwaukee religious leader charged in religious visa fraud scheme

Indian nationals allegedly paid $30,000 to fraudulently enter US as religious workers

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - A religious leader from India, who owns and operates a local Hindu temple, faces charges that he fraudulently obtained religious worker visas for Indian nationals and charged them up to $30,000 each. These charges resulted from an investigation conducted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Sagarsen Haldar, 30, an Indian national residing in Milwaukee, was charged in the Eastern District of Wisconsin June 21 with fraud and misusing visas. ICE agents arrested Haldar on Saturday at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago as he arrived in the United States from India.

Secure Communities strategy prioritizes immigration enforcement actions against convicted criminal aliens

RICHMOND, Va.- U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced Secure Communities was activated as of last week in every county in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This biometric information sharing strategy enables ICE to identify any alien booked into local law enforcement's custody for a crime. This capability is part of ICE's comprehensive strategy to improve and modernize the identification and removal of criminal aliens from the United States.
